Notable Quote

"The basic principle and the ultimate results of all statist doctrines are the same: dictatorship and destruction. The rest is only a matter of time."

— Rand, Ayn event 1966

From Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal (p. 47)

Context: From the essay 'America's Persecuted Minority: Big Business,' collected in Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal (1966). Rand argues that communism, fascism, Nazism, socialism and welfare-statism all rest on the same principle, the government's unlimited power over the individual, and that they differ from one another only in how far along that path they have gone, not in the destination itself.
