Spanish economist and professor at King Juan Carlos University in Madrid, the leading champion of the Austrian School in the Spanish-speaking world. His magnum opus [Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles](/library/books/money-bank-credit-economic-cycles/) (1998) offers the most systematic modern treatment of Austrian business cycle theory, tracing economic booms and busts to fractional reserve banking and credit expansion. Among his intellectual disciples is Javier Milei, president of Argentina.
